Emma sets up schedules, writes for the newsletter, helps plan events, and lends a hand with whatever else Serve the City needs to get done. Today, it’s gardening at Home St. Joseph-Little Sisters of the Poor. As an intern studying abroad from Chicago, U.S., she is all over the place. “Serve the City is a good organization,” she begins. “There’s an overarching sense ofcommunity and people are willing to come together even when they don’t know each other. It’s a very comfortable experience.” Emma studies international relations with a focus on gender and women and was drawn to Serve the City because of the diverse, international populations it serves within Brussels.
