The Humanitarian Hub is a unique place in Brussels that offers a wide range of essential services such as a day center, medical- and psychological consultations, food and clothes distributions, showers, restoring family links and social- and legal advice. It is a collaboration between several non-governmental organizations including the Red Cross, Doctors of the World, Doctors Without Borders, The Citizen Platform (Belrefugees) and SOS Jeunes, with the support of several associations and hundreds of volunteers. The Hub welcomes mainly people with a migration project but is open to all public. The Day Center of the Hub is open 6 days a week (closed on Wednesdays) from 9h30 to 17h30 and offers coffee and tea throughout the day, access to showers and two meal distributions daily. To make this all happen, we call upon your solidarity and commitment to give a hand to the teams, notably through the following tasks: - Prepare and distribute tea and coffee in the morning or afternoon - Provide access to showers in the morning or afternoon in collaboration with the team - Contribute to the running of food distributions (waste management, reception at the canteen, cleaning up the tables) Practical information: In order to volunteer at the Hub, you must be over 18 years old and adhere to the Carter of the Hub. The Hub is located near Tour et Taxis and is easily accessible by public transport. You will receive instructions how to access the site, please follow them closely. The day starts at 09:00 with a briefing. If you are registered for a morning shift you will participate in the briefing with the team. If you are registered for another shift, declare yourself upon arrival to a staff member as a Serve The City volunteer and ask for the “Chargée d’Appui aux Opérations” who will further guide you. The Day Center holds regularly briefings for new volunteers. Although not mandatory, it is recommended that you attend one of these meetings prior to your first volunteering at the center. To receive information regarding the next briefing and for further information, you can contact us at the following email address: Contact @croix-rouge.be
